Arjay co-founded The City basketball grassroots program, emphasizing holistic development and mindfulness. Through his teaching, he instills courage, confidence, and integrity in his student-athletes, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

Daniel tom

Daniel Tom is a highly engaged community advocate with an impressive track record of over 15+ years of volunteer work and youth support. Hailing from Spanish Harlem, NYC, he possesses an unwavering passion for basketball, which he acquired through his upbringing. As the initiator of our esteemed Chess program, Furthermore, he holds the esteemed position of co-founder and chairman of our board, actively shaping the organization's direction.

Daniel's academic accomplishments include a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a master's degree in Education, augmenting his proficiency and unwavering commitment to empowering the youth.

lUIS hERNANDEZ
girls basketball DIRECTOR

Luis Hernandez has been molding the youth in New York City for 20+ years. His firm yet warm approach motivates student-athletes to maximize their potential and to believe in themselves. Luis instills confidence in his student-athletes and has a wealth of knowledge. Luis is the Director of our Girls basketball program and is the Head Girls Varsity Coach for LREI where he’s captured numerous league championships.

EMILIANO KINAJ

Emiliano Kinaj is a NYC basketball legend. From winning a NYC City Championship and earning MVP honors to winning championships at the collegiate level, Emiliano has done it all. In high school Emilano got the opportunity to work with Nate “Tiny” Archibald who taught him a lot about the game.
Emilano is one of the original skill development coaches for The City and is an expert at breaking down the fundamentals of the game.

Seth Eastman specializes in teaching the fundamentals of the game while focusing on specific details to improve an athletes skill set. His attention to details make his teaching unique and he always adds a twist to make it fun and competitive. Seth brings great energy to every practice/game and is always creating fun new ways for our student-athletes to improve their game.


ANNA GOLDSTEIN
HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS + COACH

Anna Goldstein joins our program with the desire to develop student-athletes at a young age. Anna is a basketball enthusiast with a unique teaching approach along with a ton of teaching experience both on and off the court. Coach Anna is head of communications for The City and helps with the development of our entire girls program.


Maher elsayd
Technology director

Maher Elsayd is a highly skilled and experienced Technology Director with over 10 years of experience in managing and overseeing technology infrastructure and support services. Proven track record of success in managing budgets, implementing new technologies, and providing excellent technical support to staff and students. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators.

Shelby Savidge

Shelby Savidge joins our program with a ton of teaching experience both on and off the court. Shelby is a basketball enthusiast with a unique teaching approach. Her positive energy and desire to develop student-athletes makes each practice a success. Coach Shelby is our 6th grade girls head coach and also works with all of our age groups.

Michael Thandi is an expert at teaching the game and simplifying the fundamentals. His approach and attention to detail helps student-athletes take their game to the next level. Michael’s practices are detailed and executed effectively. Coach Michael is our 8th grade girls head coach and also helps with the development of our entire girls program.

Daniel Valentin has been around the game of basketball his entire life. He is an expert motivator with a firm yet warm approach that his players love. Coach Valentin is great at developing players.

SIWALE “STRETCH” CHABLA
COMMUNITY BASKETBALL DIRECTOR

Siwale “Stretch” Chabla is a NYC native who has been involved with grassroots basketball for decades. Coach Stretch is extremely passionate about the game and is excellent at breaking down the details in depth. Coach Stretch develops our student athletes.
